Jack has movement in his shoulders and biceps and he can talk but he has no movement or feeling in his hands and below his chest. He is currently recovering at Boston Children’s Hospital and they will be sending him to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Kids of the 80’s Party

8:00pm – November 10, 2012 at Marina Bay’s Water Club, 319 Victory Rd. Quincy, MA 02171

This event will be a fundraiser for the Flaherty Family. All attendees are encouraged to donate $10.

Promoting this event is The Greg Hill Foundation, “Since 2008 fans of the 1980’s have thrown a reunion called “The Kids of the 80’s”; the idea for the reunion was forged from one person’s wonderful memories of childhood to a group of 40somethings and their simple wish to revel in those old memories and create new ones with the folks that appreciate the awesome 80’s… plus where else can you request Kajagoogoo’s “Too Shy” and not look like a complete weirdo?!?

Each year, as Fall is in full swing, a group of about 250 “kids of the 80’s” get together in Quincy at Marina Bay’s “Water Club” to reunite with old friends, meet new ones and of course “party like it’s 1999”. This November 10th at 8pm will be no different, however this year’s event comes with heavy hearts because one of our generations own, Bobby Flaherty, passed away to cancer at the young age of 40, Bobby battled for 3 years and finally succumbed to the disease in early October. Bobby was a veteran, a huge BOSTON sports fan, a “caring and super awesome” husband to his wonderful wife, Maribel and doting father to his four children, PJ, Dylan and his youngest two, Isabella whose 6 and Bobby jr. who just turned 2.

We’re not asking much, but for those familiar with the Greg Hill Foundation, we know that together we can make a difference, together we too can become “super awesome”! In addition to the dollars donated, The Greg Hill Foundation will also be matching the contributions, dollar for dollar and 100% of the proceeds will be going to Bobby’s children. Please join our team in helping make a difference for his survivors, as well, we humbly ask to share this link so we can remember one of our own, Bobby Flaherty, a true “kid of the 80’s”. When Life Stops… Love Doesn’t.”

Through donations from our business partners, members of Today’s Collision, our families and friends, we were able to present a check in the amount of $7,500 to the local, non-profit organization, Journey Forward, dedicated to bettering the lives of those with spinal cord injuries.  On Saturday, October 27, 2012, The Today’s Collision Walking Team joined the 3rd annual “Making Steps Walk” for Journey Forward.

Each year, Dan Cummings, the founder of Journey Forward, increases his distance walked since his spinal cord injury in 2000. Danny was joined by other Journey Forward clients learning to walk again.   The Today’s Walking Team, joined by members of Enterprise Car Rental, walked alongside the clients offering encouragement and applauding their accomplishments.

The event hosted a car show, kid’s activities and refreshments.  Check out our photos from the day.
